ALLER PETFOOD FACES THE FUTURE WITH RENEWED VIGOUR

Like any family business, the Byllings had been keeping a close eye on where they saw the companies going in the future. “Recent changes in the Danish agricultural market had resulted in a dramatic shift in farmers’ requirements to the feedmill,” Henriette explains. “So we made the decision to sell the feed milling activities to Dan Aller Holding a part of the DLA Group. This has freed us up to focus exclusively on Aller Petfood.... The potential in the pet food market demonstrates that this is where our energies should lie – and although we may be sad about letting go of the feedmill side, we’re facing the future with renewed vigour and confidence!

Talk on Aller Petfood Russia at the Global Pets forum 2009
This year Global Pets Forum 2009 was focused on the BRIC countries.
Having been producing petfood in the Russian market for more than 4 years, Managing Director and Co-owner Henriette Bylling was asked to give a brief profile of about the Aller Petfood's experiences as a producer in the Russian market.

Quality

At Aller Petfood, our aim is to ensure absolute quality across the entire production chain. In 2005 we introduced the HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points) system to our business in Fredericia – a system based on a risk analysis with critical control points in production equipment.

In 2007 Aller Petfood Denmark began an extensive and structured audit which resulted in ISO 22000 certification of its production processes. Not only was Aller Petfood Denmark the first pet food producer in Europe to be certified, it was one of the first in the world.

Our Quality Handbook details our stringent quality control procedures – from the moment the raw product arrives to when the finished product leaves the factory. Amongst the many quality control processes which our products undergo, samples of all raw and finished products are rigorously inspected in our laboratory to ensure absolute consistency and adherence to industry standards.

Using the abovementioned methods we meet the requirements for effective quality control. These similarly form the basis of the framework for how we ensure the future quality of our products through the entire production process.

These quality control procedures are also used in future product development. Our goals for quality assurance are:
  • to produce pet food at levels comparable to that required for human consumption
  • to produce pet food which we can guarantee covers the pet’s requirements
  • to deliver a consistently high quality product which always meets customers’ expectations
  • to ensure complete traceability of raw products and finished products
